My Perfect Day in the Coachella Valley

The Coachella Valley sits in the lower Colorado Desert of sunny Southern California. Surrounded by the stunning San Jacinto, Santa Rosa, and San Bernardino mountains, Coachella Valley is near the Salton Sea.

Obsessed with Coachella Valley

I’m officially obsessed with the Coachella Valley. Every time I visit, I discover something new — and I can’t wait to share my favorite things to do in this desert paradise. It feels like a hidden oasis — a fascinating natural landmark worth a visit on its own.

Big Horn Sheep

The first thing you notice is the scenery. Mountains rise up dramatically from the desert floor, and if you get up early enough, you can watch the sun paint them pink and gold. I love starting the morning with a hike — Eisenhower Peak is a favorite. The views are unbelievable, and if I’m lucky, I spot a few bighorn sheep. On my last trip, wildflowers were blooming everywhere, which made it even more magical.

Joshua Tree National Park

Of course, no visit is complete without exploring Joshua Tree National Park. There’s something about those twisted Joshua trees and massive boulders that feels otherworldly. If you stay late, the stargazing is unreal.

But the Coachella Valley isn’t just about nature — it’s also about action! I got to see the Coachella Valley Firebirds play at the gorgeous Acrisure Arena, and wow — hockey in the desert is way more exciting than I expected. The crowd energy was electric. If you love tennis, the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells is a must. It’s two weeks of nonstop world-class tennis in one of the most beautiful stadiums I’ve ever seen.

Palm Springs

After all that excitement, food is a priority — and this valley delivers. Downtown Palm Springs is full of new restaurants, cool cocktail spots, and foodie gems. My personal favorite treat? The toffee milkshake at Bandini Toffee. It’s chocolatey, crunchy, and absolutely worth every sip.

History & Culture

The Coachella Valley is also rich with history and culture. Presidents, music legends, and Hollywood icons have all vacationed here. You can spend an afternoon exploring museums, touring the San Andreas Fault, or just soaking up mid-century modern vibes around town. And yes, I’m already planning to come back for the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals — the lineup is always incredible.

The weather is another reason I keep coming back. There’s just something about that perfect desert sunshine that makes every day feel like vacation. Even when it’s hot, I know there’s a pool, a shady patio, or a cold drink waiting for me.

Honestly, whether you’re into hiking, sports, food, or history, the Coachella Valley has something that will make you smile. Bring your friends, bring your family, or just treat yourself to a solo adventure — this is one of those places you can enjoy again and again.

Sunshine & Wildflowers

Next time I go, I’m planning to squeeze in more golf and maybe another Firebirds game (because that was way too much fun). Until then, I’ll be dreaming of sunshine, wildflowers, and one more toffee milkshake.
